# IDVO: Buying Companies Outside America in Dollars

How much income could a fund investing beyond the United States provide? Before exploring IDVO’s geographic mix, translate its distribution rate into a familiar investment amount. Dollar trading and international company exposure are separate features of this fund.

## What could $10,000 pay each month?

On the assumptions below, **$10,000.00 represents $51.17 per month before tax**. This gives the percentage a practical scale: a contribution toward a bill, or a larger part of a spending budget.

The input is the issuer’s **6.14% annualized recent distribution rate, dated 2026-09-30** ([official source](https://amplifyetfs.com/idvo/)). The table applies that percentage directly to each investment amount to illustrate the scale of cash income.

| Investment budget | Gross monthly equivalent | Gross annual equivalent |
|---|---:|---:|
| $1,000.00 | $5.12 | $61.40 |
| $10,000.00 | $51.17 | $614.00 |
| $50,000.00 | $255.83 | $3,070.00 |
| $100,000.00 | $511.67 | $6,140.00 |

These are **before-tax illustrations**. The full budget is assumed invested, allowing fractional shares. Annual cash is divided by twelve to produce a monthly equivalent; actual monthly payments vary. Investor taxes and trading costs are excluded, and distributions are not reinvested. Fund expenses already reflected in the reported cash measure are not deducted a second time.

### Working backward from $500 or $1,000 a month

| Gross monthly cash target | Capital at the same assumptions |
|---|---:|
| $500.00 | about $97,800 |
| $1,000.00 | about $195,500 |

The formula is monthly target × 12 ÷ annual distribution rate. Required capital is rounded up to the next $100. A 20% payment cut turns a $500.00 monthly target into $400.00 at the same holding size. Use these numbers to size a cash-flow plan, not as a promise of future payments.

## International businesses on a US exchange

The Amplify CWP International Enhanced Dividend Income ETF uses American depositary receipts, or ADRs, representing non-US companies. An ADR allows an overseas company's exposure to trade in the American market. Where the security trades and where the business operates can be different places.

The manager selects companies with attention to earnings, cash flow and the capacity to sustain dividends, and adds tactical covered calls on individual positions. This is an actively selected portfolio, not a comprehensive market-cap-weighted holding of every international stock.

| Item | Reviewed information |
|---|---|
| Total annual expenses | 0.65% |
| Launch date | September 8, 2022 |
| Distributions | Monthly, with variable amounts |
| Annualized distribution rate | 6.14%, September 30, 2026 |
| 30-day SEC yield | 1.40%, same date |
| Core structure | Selected international ADRs plus options |

Corporate dividends and option-related cash should not be treated as identical sources. Distribution notices provide additional information about composition. The character of one month's payment should not automatically be assumed to describe every later payment.

## Currency beneath the dollar quotation

A Korean investor may convert won to dollars to buy IDVO. Companies inside the portfolio may earn revenue or pay expenses in euros, yen and other currencies. The won–dollar relationship is therefore only one layer in the economic picture.

| Layer | Currency question |
|---|---|
| Household spending | What currency pays your bills? |
| ETF trading and payments | The fund trades and distributes in dollars |
| Corporate operations | Which currencies determine revenue, costs and financing? |

This does not imply that a currency move passes through to a stock price one-for-one. Businesses operate across borders and may hedge exposures. The point is that a dollar price tag does not collapse all currency risk into a single exchange rate.

## More countries do not guarantee smaller losses

Reducing dependence on US companies can be a sensible portfolio objective. It is not proof that the overall portfolio will always be less risky. Different policy environments, reporting practices and geopolitical developments enter the analysis. Country and sector weights can also create concentrations of their own.

International equities may behave differently from US equities across some periods. During a global shock, however, both can fall together. A longer list of countries is not a guarantee of capital protection.

Read the actual weights before making a diversification claim. A portfolio can be international in name while a few regions or industries explain much of its behavior. The useful comparison is with the holdings already in your account, not with an abstract idea of “the rest of the world.”

## Option premiums leave downside in place

Selling calls on a holding produces cash in exchange for giving up some potential upside. Premiums may soften a decline, but the stock can still lose substantial value. Company dividends are also subject to business conditions and board decisions.

Consider an invented basket whose remaining value falls 12% over a year while it pays cash equal to 6% of the initial investment. A simple combined result is still about negative 6%, before personal taxes and currency effects. This is not IDVO's historical return. It is a reminder that recording cash without the remaining asset value can hide a loss.

## Write the purpose before comparing the yield

Instead of starting with “I need another monthly payer,” try “I want to change my account's dependence on US businesses.” That sentence changes what you compare. Countries, sectors, company selection and the option overlay become visible beside the distribution rate.

ADR-related expenses, taxes withheld on international dividends and the investor's own account rules can affect received cash. An American issuer's tax explanation cannot simply be copied into every investor's circumstances. Looking internationally means looking beyond the dollar amount to the businesses and systems that produce it.
